Thesis

During
my last year of formation I have been working on my Master thesis with the
title: ION THRUSTER OPTIMIZATION FOR LOW
THRUST STATION KEEPING. The main purpose of this thesis is to realize a
study of a possible optimization of ion thrusters performance for low thrust
station keeping maneuvers by means of implementing an algorithm using as
analytical model the theory presented by John R. Brophy in his work Ion thruster performance model. The
herein explained work includes, as well, a simple analysis of all orbital
mechanics involved in those maneuvers.

Engineer’s
Degree in Aeronautical Engineering with Propulsion specialty, Universitat
Politècnica de Catalunya (Spanish Five-yeardegree, MEng equivalent)

This engineering degree provided me with a
vast and complete engineering background based on strong mathematical and
physics skills like Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, Gas dynamics, Mechanics or
Algebra and statistics. It included more technical subjects like Finite Element
Method, Aerospace Structures, Aerodynamics, or Composite Materials at the same
time as management skills as Airport design and management, Project management
or Aerospace production management.

Furthermore, I focused my formation in the
field of Propulsion. It means that I reinforced my knowledge in areas going
from Internal combustion engines to such a more experimental side as Space
electrical propulsion is, going thru Chemical rocket propulsion and Reaction
engines.

I stayed one year completing my formation
doing an European student exchange program. It gave me a wider point of view
