Responsible for the Italian area of
Supplier Quality Assurance within AgustaWestland leading and managing a group
of Suppliers Quality Engineers.

Managing a base of ca. 1200 suppliers all
around the world involved in different technologies with a yearly budget of
approx. 400 K€

Tasked with the control and management of the AW suppliers base feeding the
AW Plants.

Major goal of the role was to lead, with a dedicated team, the entire process
of qualification, kick off of activities and performances monitoring of the
AW approved suppliers by means of dedicated activities at the suppliers and
home (Suppliers assessment capability, auditing, specific meetings, Quality
Plan, Control Plan etc) and organization and management of a yearly suppliers
assessment plan.

The role required extended travelling around the world and a sound capability
to deal with different cultural approaches in order to reach the goal.

It also required coordination with all the AW companies (UK, USA, Poland) in
order to have a common approach and a sole Company result and cross
functional approach within the Company (Procurement, Quality, Planning,
production Plants).

Direct interface with all Airworthiness Regulatory Agencies (FAA, EASA etc),
Ministry of Defence, as well as major customers is a major task.

Reporting to the Operations Director.

Scope of my the role was to lead and manage, with a dedicated team and in
coordination with Suppliers Quality Assurance, the performances of approved
suppliers in the field of Delivery Schedule Adherence, Quality and Turn Around
Time in order to assure a smooth flow of bought out parts to the assembly
lines.

The role required a tight cross functional approach with Material Planning,
Quality and Production within each AW Plant and a practical knowledge of the
analysis tools (PFMA, lean manufacturing, 5s etc)

suppliers, the aim of the task was to qualify the suppliers against the AW

Director Suppliers Quality

Dear Madam/Sir,
I have been working in the last 15 years for an international helicopter
manufacturer (AgustaWestland) in a competitive, intercultural, complex,
cross-geographical organization.
All my career has developed mainly in the area of Quality with specific
focus on Suppliers Management.

I’m actually covering the position of Head of Supplier Quality
Assurance, having four geographical Managers (UK, ITA, US, PL) and their teams
reporting to me.

My department is part of the Procurement & Supply Chain Dept. and I
report directly to the V.P. Procurement Operations.
One of the main project and success of these last years has been the
development of a unique SQA function within the four AW geographies (Italy, UK,
US and Poland) that had historically their own rules and legacies.

From scrap with my Managers and Teams we built a global organization
having same rules, procedures and common practices. It was a hard development
mission but we succeeded.
Parallel to this I have been engaged with my Teams in the suppliers
build-up and definition for a supply chain concerning the three actual programs
(AW189, AW169, AW609) that are actually at development phase. We concluded the
certification for the AW189 and are reaching the one for the other two
programs.
At this stage of my personal career I’m looking for a new challenge in a
new Company in order to continue my development, take advantage of my past
knowledge and learn new skills. I feel that for the moment this new development
has to be searched outside my current Company.
My international mind-set, developed through working for many years in
an international environment with cross cultural management and my extensive
travelling throughout the world to assess suppliers in different countries and
cultures plus my knowledge of different European languages has led me to the
decision to look for a new challenge abroad.
